About

دِرْعُ الْفَتْحِ

A shield to be defended. A tradition to be revived.

Conquest Shield returns for its third annual edition — two days of traditional target archery hosted by Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah, the school of Mamlūk and Arab Archery. On 16–17 May 2026 the community gathers at Al Fursan farm in Philippi, Cape Town.

The competition revives a discipline carried through the classical Islamic world: the bow drawn not for spectacle but as a practised art — with adab, intention and careful form. Archers compete across two days and two categories, from Al-Ashbāl to experienced adults.

More than a tournament, it is a gathering — families, spectators and vendors around a living tradition. Every arrow loosed honours those who kept this knowledge, and every edition widens the circle who carry it forward, in shā’ Allāh.
